How do I install CDT plug-in? [message #755010] Sun, 06 November 2011 13:22 Go to next message

Hi. I am a beginner in Eclipse. I have just installed Eclipse 3.7.0. When I choose File>New>Project from the Menu bar I realize that there is no C/C++ option to select. So I guess that means that I have to install the CDT plug-in. I tried to follow the
www.ibm.com/developerworks/opensource/library/os-eclipse-stlcdt/ web page but it seems that it uses a different version than the one I have downloaded.

Could someone please describe the steps for installing the CDT plug-in preferably for the Eclipse version I have installed? I am using Linux Ubuntu

Also if someone could suggest some info using the CDT for developing C code (running the debbuger, creating projects etc.)

Alexandros

The easiest is to download the CDT variant of Eclipse which contains everything you need.

Yes I think you are right.

There are two CDT variants at the download page:
1)Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Developers
2)Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Linux Developers

Which one should I download?

The file downloaded would be a tar.gz. How do I install that?
