Eclipse hangs on startup [message #723313] Thu, 08 September 2011 06:04 Go to next message

Today I have a problem with my Eclipse...

It hangs on startup with a couple of threads in the "Progress" view.
Please see the attached screenshot.

The progress bars keep endlessly running with no obvious progress.
Hitting the "Cancel" buttons writes a "Cancel requested", but the request is never fulfilled.

The project files are out of sync, the editor shows a "Press 'F5' to refresh" message.
Doing so adds a "Refresh (waiting)" thread to the progress view.

I killed and restarted Eclipse several times, but the issue is always re-occurring.
Exiting normally from Eclipse is not possible because of the hanging threads.

PLEASE HELP!

Restarting eclipse with "-clean" option sometimes could help in such cases.

Thanks to both of you.
Probably the "-clean" would have helped.

I re-installed Eclipse, created a new workspace and imported the project...
Now it works again.
