GMF editor with EMF page [message #70110] Thu, 26 October 2006 08:58 Go to next message

Hello,

I'm asking this question for the third time now, but maybe meanwhile someone
has an answer.

I have built a nice little GMF editor. Unfortunately my model has many
non-graphical elements, too. For creating and editing these elements it
would be best to have an extra page or view in my GMF editor showing the
generated EMF editor (like in another tab, like the various views of the
EMF editor).

Another possibility would be writing hundreds of dialogs, actions and
commands. But I'd prefer to avoid this by simply using the EMF tree view
with it's ready-made creation features.

I took a look on both the EMF and the GMF Editor class, but I'm not so used
to EMF/GMF yet and couldn't figure out howto combine these two. I would
appreciate every help that you can give me.

thank,
tobias

Hello Tobias,

If MultiPageEditor is ok for you - look for the postings related to the MultiPageEditor
in newsgroup.

Sorry, but I can not find anything useful. If you have a link to such a
posting, please send it.

Thanks for the reference, but as I said I already searched the newsgroup,
but I only find articles concerning problems _with_ multipageeditors, but
no threads on how to actually create a multipageeditor by merging the gmf
and emf editor.

I also tried the Eclipse Plugin Project Templates for Multipageeditor and
View, but I have to admit that the eclipse framework is far to big for me
to really understand it just by peeking on some examples.

Isn't there a HowTo on this topic somewhere? I can't imagine that this is
not a quite common issue...

Opps! I'll try that again!

Did you get an answer to this?

I would like to import ecore models into my GMF model and be able to edit
them in place via a custom view. What you are trying to do sounds similar.
