Is the Flow- or GridLayout supposed to work??? [message #68539]

Folks,
I am trying to convince GMF to space child items (rectangles) within a
compartment horizontally, but had no luck so far.
Regardless of what I try (FlowLayout vertical true/false, force single
true/false, GridLayout in misc. arrangments, XY Layout etc.) the items
are always listed vertically (i.e. like a vertical flowlayout) and I get
vertical scroll arrows instead.

Is the layout supposed to work for compartments or are compartments
defaulting to vertical FlowLayout, regardless of what layout one chooses
for them?
