Hi everybody!
After a long time, a new version of the RMI plugin is now available.
Among its main features are:
(*) Support for Eclipse 2.1
(*) Launching support which provides a convenient
way to specify all the RMI VM properties.
(*) Numerous bug fixes
(*) The plugin also has a new home: http://www.genady.net/
(The new version is still a "release candidate")
The plugin's license has also changed. Briefly, the plugin is not open
source anymore. It is still free for personal use, but organizations
must purchase a license.
Note that version 1.4.0 is still licensed under the open source license
for educational purposes. It is available from the SourceForge site
http://lunar-eclipse.sf.net/
Have a nice day,
Genady

First, it is not "that small". It has over 6000 lines of code and it
wasn't written during one night. Not even two nights. Second, a major
feature of the new version is the launching support which allows you to
easily specify all the standard and Sun internal RMI propterties,
including a codebase editor.
The previous version of the plugin is free and provides you with the
basic features you need. Since it is open sourced, you can easily adopt
it to run under Eclipse 2.1.
By the way, I proposed to contribute the code to eclipse about a year
ago (see https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=7879,
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=15232) but somehow it
didn't happen.
