Hello all,
I just posted this to bugzilla, but I thought some of you would like to
know it since it has a workaround.
An installation bug has crept back up in the latest (4/22, Eclipse 2.1)
build.
This looked like it was fixed in the 3/27/03 nightly (for Eclipse 2.0.2),
since
I could install it there.
(To clarify the above: CDT installed ok with E2.0.2/CDT.3/27/03, did not
install with E2.1/CDT.4/22/03)
When "enabling" the CDT plug-in (via the work around Judy has posted to the
newsgroups, which is a fix to a bug in itself), the following error occurs:
Requested operation cannot be performed because it would invalidate the
current
configuration. See details for more information.
Error creating feature "file:C:/Program Files/eclipse/eclipse
2.1/features/org.eclipse.cdt_1.0.1.jar/". [C:\Program Files\eclipse\eclipse
2.1
\features\org.eclipse.cdt_1.0.1.jar\feature.xml (The system cannot find the
path specified)]
The obvious problem being that there is no "org.eclipse.cdt_1.0.1.jar"
directory under the features directory. This was mentioned before in the
newsgroup, but I don't think a bug was ever filed for it.
A workaround: make a copy of the "org.eclipse.cdt_1.0.1' directory and name
that copy "org.eclipse.cdt_1.0.1.jar". This seems to make it happy, but
this
is a bug nonetheless. (I left both directories just in case something was
look
for the plain directory, and something else was looking for the .jar
directory).
Hope this helps some of you who have had the same problem.
Josh
