printing a selection from Linux [message #639644] Wed, 17 November 2010 05:32 Go to next message

I'm using Galileo on Suse 11.2 and Windows Vista, and Helios on Ubuntu. In Windows environment, I can print a selection of my code. On both Linux systems however, I cannot print a selection. I don't have the "selection" option when I select File->Print (only "All Pages" and "Pages" ; even "Current Page" is grayed out). Is this a problem in Eclipse or a configuration problem of my Linux environments ? Or a combination of both ? Or a problem of the printer driver ?

----

meanwhile, I noticed that I can print a selection from e.g. the KWrite editor on the Suse server. So, it looks like this is not a problem of the OS or the printer driver, is it ?

Does this help?

What exact versions of Eclipse are you using?

I don't think this is the same problem. In that bug-report, one is talking about clicking "selection" and still have the whole document printed. In my case, I don't have the option to check the "selection" option. It's not there ! (not even grayed; simply not available at all)

Versions : CDT Galileo Build-id 20100218-1602 and CDT Helios 20100617-1415. Both have the problem in Linux, NOT in Windows.

Ah! Yes, I see what you mean now (just checked on Helios on Ubuntu).

I also checked gedit and Firefox. With firefox the "Print" dialog
comes up with 5 tabs, one of which is "Options" and that's where the
selection option is. gedit comes up with 5 tabs too, the 5th one being
"Text Editor" but doesn't give that option. Eclipse only gives 4 tabs;
General, Page Setup, Job and Advanced. It looks to me like it's to do
with the default settings of the Linux printer driver compared to the
windows one.

Yes Yes. No problem of os or driver. It is the settings Rolling Eyes , which creates differences.
