This could be caused by a back level version of Internet Explorer.
Do you have the latest updates (Windows + IE) installed? With eclipse 2.1
you'll need at least IE5.5

Hello,

IE in my computer is IE5.5, actually, I reinstalled IE 6.0, it still does
not work.Same problem, after select "help content", the message is as
follows

Javaw

This program has performed an illegal
operation and will be shut down.

If this persists, contact the program vendor.

I need to read the manual about Plug-in developer guide and some other
online help, so could you please help solve this problem?

Thanks.

As a work around, go to help preferences and switch to use a default system
browser instead of embedded one. If this helps, your problem might be
similar to https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=29947 . You can
add yourself to the CC list, and append your findings (IE version, stack
dumps, whether there is anything on your machine that you think has a chance
of affecting working of embedded IE).
