while looking at the Grid Widget I've got some questions:
- The first question is about the alpha status of this widget. Is it
recommended to be used in production code?
- I haven't found some kind of roadmap about how and when things are
progressing. When is it going to be marked as stable (or merged to SWT)?
- Is there a similar performance issue with large number of root items as
with the SWT Tree in Windows?
Cheers,

Hi Klaus,
The Grid is very stable and is in use in production code. The primary
reason its still marked as ALPHA is because the API is not set in stone.
I have not published a roadmap because 1.) I'd probably not be able to
fulfill any promises I made 2.) the community has been very good at
providing patches for new Grid features and any roadmap I would provide
wouldnt be complete w/o taking those into account. I hope to complete
Grid 1.0 to coincide with 3.4, but like I said its very stable right now.
Re performance issues, I don't know what performance issue you are
referring to but I would suggest you test Grid yourself. The Windows
Table and Tree are generally pretty fast (are you using SWT.VIRTUAL?).
Grid is not quite as fast as Table (not sure about Tree) just yet.
Regards,
-Chris
