I am not a lawyer, but I am not aware if CollabNet connector for
IssueZilla has any restrictions on personal use. If you think it is too
prohibitive, perhaps you should report that issue to CollabNet, as they
own both, the Mylyn connector and the server side application.
Also, Mylyn does include web connector that is licensed under EPL,
which doesn't have any prohibitive claims and that connector can be used
to connect to IssueZilla, though it won't provide reach Task Editor and
other nice UI features.

Thanks for getting that fixed. It allowed me to check out the connector.
There seems to be a bug in the installer whereby the mere act of copying
the splash screen image to install it accidently triggers its display
hanging the installation process. This defeated my strategy of going to
get a fresh cup of coffee during the installation since I had to kill
the splash screen window and still wait for all the other installations
that I had queued up to complete.
I'm also seeing occasional very long (minutes) hangs of Eclipse with the
Mylyn "synchronizing" message displayed, but I think that may have
started when I upgraded to Mylyn 2.1. I'll probably just disable
automatic synchronization until I can figure out who the culprit is.

It's kind of strange that an open source site like Tigris is using a closed source fork of Bugzilla. If they were just using the standard Bugzilla, we'd be able to use the off the shelf Mylar connector.
The third party connector that's pointed to on the Mylyn extensions page has an onerous license including field of use restrictions and an anti-compete clause. Does anyone have any alternatives? Are you referring to the connector you can get here:

I am responsible for this product and it is basically supposed to just
be freely available for any use. If you can point me to some kind of
T&C that imply otherwise I can work on getting it clarified. I
personally worked with the people on the license language and it was
supposed to just be the typical you agree not to sue us if your house
burns down type language.
Please feel free to post any concerns in the forum on that site.

I can't tell because it's behind a registration barrier (and I've used
up the week's quota of silly registrations). The update URL is

The language seems pretty clear now, so I'm not sure clarifying will
help. Removing the restrictions would help though.
"2. Limitations on Use. You agree not to: [...] (e) create or attempt to
create substitute or similar products through use of the Software or any
proprietary information related to the Software, or (f) use the Software
in any manner to compete with CollabNet."
As an independent consultant, I can't afford to adopt tools which have
field of use restrictions and anti-compete clauses. I'd end up with a
crazy quilt of landmines waiting to go off at the worst possible time
when I got a new gig or CollabNet decided to introduce a new product.
The good news is that the new Import/Export Query facility in 2.1 will
make it much easier to share queries for the generic web connector (or
whatever it's new name is). The Mylyn 2.1 doesn't show up with the
default Eclipse update settings, so I just discovered it.
I'll post a set of templates in a separate post that other Tigris users
can customize.

The Eclipse features contain the new language and if you use the update
site URL you will see this. There is also a way to download a zipped
update site. The language on that page has not been updated yet, and
it will also currently download the older 1.1. release. I have put in
requests to our web site team to update both and I am sure they will be
shortly. Just thought I would point this out in case you went to that
page and did not see the language removed.
Thanks for reading the agreement and pointing out these problems in the
language. As I said earlier, it was never our intent to impose terms
like this on anyone.
