Overall this seems like a good idea.
There are 2 concerns and suggestions that comes to mind:
1. To avoid IP issues with non-EPL code posted to the Eclipse Spaces,
perhaps the site should be hosted and managed outside of the Eclipse
Foundation.
2. I can imagine that existing Eclipse projects might find it useful to
provide a space to discuss their projects. While that is generally a good
thing, it would mean one more media to monitor and maintain (in addition to
WIKI, newsgroups, mailing lists, project web sites, and CVS). Should the
Eclipse Spaces prove attractive, perhaps we should consider retiring the
newsgroups.

Yes. I guess it wasn't clear from the proposal, but the idea is that the
Spaces project is about the client side plug-ins necessary to enable a
non-server side "eclipse forge". That server side will be hosted by one
or more non-Foundation isp. AOL is planning to host one. We are talking
to other companies who may also host them.
