NullPointerException in ReportDesigner (Debug Report) [message #547500]

Hi All,
While playing with BIRT I created an empty report filled it with data from sample db and tried to debug it:
Navigator -> (right click on rptdesign file) -> Report -> Debug Report

As a result I've got the NullPointerException

I'm working with a plugin version of report designer.
BRIT 2.6

Hi All
I'm currently evaluating BIRT for our project and this is a no go issue for me right now - could somebody help?

Ilya,

Can you post the report? Are you setting any breakpoints in script?
Does the report run without debugging it?

Hi Jason,
Thank you for your help.

1. Report runs fine when I use preview tab in designer or when I run it
from dynamic menu using "Report/Run Report"

2. I do not set any beakpoints

3. My report xml file is here:

Debugging the report is usually used when you want to debug Java or
JavaScript event handlers. Look at the report item in the debug
perspective. This does appear to be a bug in the debugger. Can you
select the view report in web viewer from the toolbar and see if that works.

"View Report" from the toolbar works, it also creates word and HTML reports without any problems.

Debugging does not work from any of the available places (Dynamic menu on the right-click, Run menu) and fails with the same NullPointerException.

I tried this as well and it does appear to be a bug. I will log it.
You can still debug the run task, but the error comes on the render task.
