Cleanup Bundle Pool [message #530045] Wed, 28 April 2010 05:45 Go to next message

Hi,

I have a target platform based on an update site that is updated very
frequently. I noticed, that the bundle pool in
\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.pde.core\.bundle_pool now contains more
than 5000 bundles! That also seems to have an impact on Eclipse startup
time.

Is there any API to garbage collect unused bundles? Manually removing
the target definition in the UI doesn't seem to help.

Thanks,
Stefan.

AFAIK there is no cleanup functionality in the code. Thus, it's not
supported. PDE just keeps adding stuff to it. Can you open a bug/feature
request?

Thanks Gunnar, I filed bug
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=310972

Another really annoying thing with update sites as targets it that you
always have to be online - otherwise the target cannot be resolved on
Eclipse restart. This makes working with those kinds of targets on
notebooks nearly impossible. I found bug
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=295576 that adresses this
issue.

Any workaround for this?

Thanks,
Stefan.
