How to manage bar chart with a lot of data on axis [message #520149]

Hi,

I use a vertical bar chart.
The horizontal axis represents a type (not a value). For example: january, february....
The types to show on the graph are selected by the user with a report parameter.

My chart starts becoming unreable when the number of selected types is over 25.

What are the solutions to manage that ?
- Is it possible to do some scrolling ?
- Is it possible to split the graph on different pages ? for example, a graph with
ten types on the graph of the firt pages, another graph with ten other types on the
second page.

Why not dynamically resize the chart or filter the data into two or more
charts?

For more than one chart you could have several charts in the design with
filter pre-applied and then based on a parameter drop any unused charts
from the report design in the beforeFactory event.

I found a better solution :

- I use a grid linked to the dataset.
-I create a group inside the grid. The group groups on __rownum
with an interval of n elements.
- In the footer of the group, i put my chart.

Michenaud,

That is a great idea. Trevor I believe he meant a table instead of a
grid. I build a quick example that shows his approach. Look at the
group and see that it is setup to interval on every 4 rows.
