| Mylyn as a todo-list and more [message #50976] | Fri, 27 June 2008 03:06 | |
| Eclipse User | | | | | Hello,
currently I am organizing my normal todo-list (which is quite large) with
the program ToDoList from AbstractSpoon. The project I am currently
working on, uses Jira for issue-management and therefore I am using Mylyn
inside Eclipse. (Apart from that I am doing my knowledge management with
FreeMind, but that is another story). Additionally we have Microsoft
Outlook for organizing appointments. As things get quite complicated if
you have three tools which have to be synchronized I am trying to unify
all these tools as far as possible and Mylyn seems to be a good "platform"
 for this.

I already can access Jira from Mylyn (I am using 3.0 btw), that's perfect.
I now could use the local repository for my todo-list, but unfortunately I
have no way structuring the todo-list. I would need either nested folders
or unlimited task/subtask nesting. As far as I can see, this is not
supported by the local repository. Is such an enhancement planned or is
there something like jira/bugzilla which can be used by Mylyn without a
 big installation overhead?

Connectors for Microsoft Outlook/Exchange, Rational ClearQuest and e.g.
the XMind mind-mapping tool would be cool, too, but I guess that is not in
 the focus currently.

If you install the UI Experiments feature from the Incubator update site you
can enable nesting for local tasks:

 http://www.eclipse.org/mylyn/downloads/

It is likely that this will become the default in a future version:

 238498: enable local subtasks
 https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=238498
