hi i pressed something and now all the *.java files in my workspace show tabs as: ">>", and there are end of line characters at the end of every line. how do i get these symbols to go away? thanks.

Press it again ;-)

Or, go into Window -> Preferences; in the filter text (top left) type
"whitespace"; and let that lead you to the Text Editor preferences, where you
can change the "show whitespace characters" setting.
