Using Amazon S3 for the infrastructure [message #48950] Fri, 31 August 2007 20:36 Go to next message

Bandwith and storage being a big spending at the foundation, I was wondering
if storage systems like Amazon S3 had been considered and if they would not
be more advantageous and less costly than our current solution.

Pascal, our servers and their related storage were donated[1], so our
storage is effectively free.

We've negotiated a very good price for our bandwidth. It's very competitive.

In addition, we have tons of mirrors which provide us with both free storage
and bandwidth.

We do revisit our infrastructure setup and related costs on a regular basis.

Thanks.
