Installation Problems with Ganymede [message #47725] Thu, 04 June 2009 04:05 Go to next message
Eclipse UserFriend
Hello,

I am new to Xtext, and after having worked abit on the Galileo
Distribution with xText, i need to install it now on the Ganymede
Distribution. Yet I have some problems with the installation on Eclipse
Ganymede Distribution.

The "Getting Started" tips from
http://wiki.eclipse.org/Xtext/Workspace_Setup cannot be followed under
Ganymede (3.4.2).
I tried installing the SDK from
http://www.eclipse.org/modeling/tmf/downloads/?project=xtext , along with
EMF SDK 2.4 and UML 2 End-User Features 2.2.2.

What is missing/ how should i best procede with the installation?

Regards,
Aurel

Hi Aurel,

I'm afraid TMF Xtext requires Eclipse 3.5 Galileo. Although our very own
dependencies to Eclipse 3.5 are more or less for cosmetics, the Xtext
core features make heavy use of new functionality of EMF 2.5 which in
turn declares a dependency to Eclipse 3.5.

Regards,
Sebastian
