RCP product export for Mac x86/ppc [message #449746] Thu, 18 May 2006 14:45 Go to next message

I have a question about the product export for Mac OS X using 3.2 RC3. Why
are there are two separate exports available, one for x86 and one for ppc?

It looks like there is only one SWT fragment for OS X. Is the launcher
platform specific? It looks like Eclipse itself ships only one Mac
version. Is there a reason RCP apps would need to ship two?

Thanks for any help,

This is caused by the way pde discovers about the platforms available
from the launcher feature. Basically it infers the supported platform
from the folders available and derives from it the values for os/ws/arch
which will be passed down to the exporter. If we did not had the two
separate folders we had problems so we kept them even though they are
the same.
But whether you export for x86 or ppc the app will run on both platform.

So, do you only need to export for one platform - ppc or x86? Does it
matter?

As I said, you just need to export for one, since the content is the same.
