I'm trying to run Galileo for OS X using Java 1.6. My understanding is
that this only works for 64-bit builds (because the 1.6 JVM is only built
for 64 bit). I downloaded the "Cocoa" version of Galileo RC4, but it
doesn't seem to be 64 bit, based on this:
mwallace-70004% file eclipse
eclipse: Mach-O universal binary with 2 architectures
eclipse (for architecture i386): Mach-O executable i386
eclipse (for architecture ppc): Mach-O executable ppc
When I try to run eclipse using 1.6, I get the following:
mwallace-70004% ./eclipse
_NSJVMLoadLibrary: NSAddLibrary failed for
/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6/Lib raries/libjvm.dylib
JavaVM FATAL: Failed to load the jvm library.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The packages that you find here [1] are only built for 32-bit cocoa, not
for 64 bit.
To get the 64bit cocoa build, you need the "Eclipse Classic" -> Other
downloads, which is the link that Tom gave.
Starting from that base Eclipse, you can install other things you may
want by doing Help -> Install New Software... and work with the Galileo
repository.
