Key bindings for Eclipse-Commands [message #324752] Thu, 31 January 2008 11:18 Go to next message

Hi all!

I am using Eclipse 3.2 and I would like to define my own key binding scheme
in which I will include some of the commands defined in org.eclipse.ui.
I'm using the org.eclipse.ui.bindings extension point for that which
works pretty fine for some commands such as org.eclipse.ui.views.showView.

However, for other commands such as the org.eclipse.ui.window.nextView
command for showing the next view (and some others), this does just not work
even though the command is correctly listed in Window->Preferences->Keys.

Are there maybe some known issues with the binding of some Eclipse-Commands
or why do some work while others don't?

BTW: Even if I do not define my own key binding scheme but use the default
one, the behavior is the same, i.e. some Eclipse-Commands do work fine while
others don't.

I really don't have any idea why this is the case so I would very much
appreciate any help!

Thanks in advance for your help & regards,
Ovidio

I'm not sure if this will help, but if it's possible for you to move to
3.4 the problem might be addressed. 3.2 is an ancient release with
respect to how the commands work.

Francis,

thanks a lot for your immediate response!

Unfortunately, we can not move to Eclipse 3.4 right now (even not to
Eclipse 3.3!) due to several constraints in our project. I do also think
that this might work correctly in some later version of Eclipse as it very
much looks like a bug to me (as some commands work perfectly while others
don't) but I can't really tell.

In any case, thanks a lot again for your feedback!

Best regards,
Ovidio
