Hello,
The JSR-203 group has provided an early-release API. I have access to an
early prototype of JSR 203, and have been writing an adapter on top of
it for the Eclipse resource API. I think that not only would plug-in
developers appreciate any input you might have to gudie this JSR to
completion, I think it will be useful for your perspective to be
included for anyone who winds up wanting to use or extend this API for
their own needs.
I seriously doubt there's a reasonable chance API will be a drop-in
replacement for the Eclipse filesystem API, but I think with some good
guidance, you can help make the new API successful.
Is anyone already participating in the JSR-203 discussion?

Here's another one. (I shouldn't really just use this as my personal
springboard, but heck, why not?)
The nature of the API supports a method called createFile(). This
creates a new and empty file, which would then be written to with an
output stream. This isn't really how the Eclipse resources seems to
work. That said, the compatibility layer seems to be a bit wasteful.
Anyway, it's those sorts of things that are going to be irritating --
your input will be helpful.
