Update manager behaviour - can anyone explain? [message #306604] Wed, 02 August 2006 12:32 Go to next message

Dear All,

I created an internal mirror of the checkstyle update site. This has 3
available feature versions: 4.0.0; 4.0.1; 4.1.0. (The feature.xml's for
all versions were edited to reference the internal mirror.)

I used the mirror site to install version 4.0.0 and restarted. I then ran
the update manager's "Search for updates of the currently installed
features" and found version 4.0.1, which I installed. (I was expecting to
see version 4.1.0 - was this expectation wrong? If so why?)

After restarting the IDE I repeated the previous step expecting to now see
4.1.0 as a choice. However, the update manager informed me that there were
no updates available. Can anyone explain this?

Many thanks,

Miles

Window>Preferecnes>Install/Update

It's the "Valid Updates" section. If you have the first one selected,
then 4.0.0 -> 4.0.1 is a valid update.

Final info:

I then used the update manager to "Search for new Features to install" and
selected my checkstyle mirror. I was expecting to get the "No features
found on selected sites" but the manager found version 4.1.0. Is there any
reason why the "check for updates" scan failed to find 4.1.0 whilst the
"install new" scan did not?
