Can't get eclipse 3.1.1 to work reliably on linux AMD64 [message #296157]

Run eclipse from a terminal window. When Eclipse seems hung, use
"kill -3 <pid>" to the Java VM process -- it will dump a stack trace to
the terminal window, and post it to a bug at bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/.
This should help figure out what's going on.

The behaviour you're seeing is not normal or expected, of course.
