Product extension and .product file - which does what? [message #286832] Fri, 17 June 2005 21:09 Go to next message

There seem to be two different ways to specify information like
aboutImage. The difference seems to be that the
org.eclipse.core.runtime.products seems to work and the .product file
doesn't seem to do anything at all.

What's the difference between these and when are they supposed to be used?

..product file is just a way to keep all product related settings in one
place. To make it work, you have to synchronize it with the plugin.xml
file using Synchronize option on the first page of the product editor.
The contents of the plugin.xml is then updated. Of course .product file
also contains other settings that are not synchronized with plugin.xml.

Looks like the Configuration in .product is used by the product export
wizard?
