No Features listed in Product Configuration [message #276914]

Hi,

when I open the Eclipse Product Configuration via "Help -> Manage
Configuration"
I do not see any entries. And when I try to install Features via the
Update Manager I often get errors like
" ... requires plug-in "org.eclipse.core.resources (2.0.0)", or later
version." Of course
my Eclipse has the core.resources Plugin.
Obviously my Eclipse does not know what features/plugins are in it.
Is there a way to repair the Product Configuration? By the way: Is there a
file where the current configuration is stored in? Or is Eclipse expected to
scan
the features/plugins?
