Sorry, but I figured I would *resubmit* this to *tools.hyades* *again*
and the platform group. Reason: I did not receive any replies from
tools.hyades support group. If I can't get an answer, not sure where
else I can go?
I am running Eclipse 3.1 M3.
Just installed the following 3.2.0 Hyades zip files for hyades 3.2.0
after I saw their announcement. (Have never installed before)
hyades.examples_3.2.0_20041101_1032.zip
hyades.test_3.2.0_20041101_1032.zip
hyades.source_3.2.0_20041101_1032.zip
hyades.rac.nt_3.2.0_20041101_1032.zip
hyades.runtime_3.2.0_20041101_1032.zip
When I look at the "Product Configuration all I see is version 3.1.0 of
Hyades and some 3.2.0.
Problem: Have the following Configuration errors for :
- *Hyades Generic Log Adapter*
Plug-in "org.eclipse.hyades.logging.adapter" version "3.1.0" referenced
by this feature is missing.
Plug-in "org.eclipse.hyades.logging.adapter.config" version "3.1.0"
referenced by this feature is missing.
- *Hyades Logging*
Plug-in "org.eclipse.hyades.logging.parsers" version "3.1.0" referenced
by this feature is missing.

Thanks in Advance...

Hi,
Try the attached script (if you set the JAVA_BIN variable correctly it
should setup the latest Hyades 3.2 driver - almost automatically), make sure
you
run RAServer (in the original window) after the scripts ends. Just press
enter on all questions on the config window.
Rerun the script (or the just the lines with problems) if there are any time
out errors in the console.
As a first test when the Hyades workbench is started open the "Profiling and
Logging"
perspective then create a Profile launch configuration using the Profile
button in the toolbar - use External Java Application, select the attached
class in the Main tab then select Profiling tab and check Execution History
then click Profile and then you should see the monitored agent coming up in
the Profiling Monitor view.
Use "Open With" on the agent entry in the Profiling Monitor view to open
different statistical or graphical views.
Change/modify the profiling set or the filters on the Profiling tab to
collect different aspects of the profiling data.
Thanks,
Marius

Thanks for your response.
My question is where, what and why for the statement: "run RAServer (in
the original window) after the scripts ends RAServer". I have ever seen
this before and I do not know what this is?

When you unzip hyades.rac.nt_3.2.0_20041101_1032.zip there should be a bin
directory that has this file. This is the executable you run to start the
agent controller. It's a little server (separate from the eclipse
workbench) that facilitates communication with the agents that supply
profiling data from your applications.
As for the why - it's separate from the workbench because you can install
it on a remote machine and profile your apps remotely (e.g. J2EE apps
running on a server). It's also used for a little more than just
collecting data, it can fetch log files for analysis, launch remote apps
for profiling, etc.
Thanks,
Curt
