Hi all eclipse-cdt-users,
I have a pc with winXP. I have just installed eclipse and have managed to
run a few java programs. I am interested in installing cdt. I have the
following questions :
1. I have MinGW installed on my pc. Actually, it was a part of a package
called Rtools (see http://www.murdoch-sutherland.com/Rtools/). The path to
MinGW as an environmental variable is : c:\Rtools\MinGW\bin on my pc. Is
this sufficient to use cdt? Or, do I have to install cygwin also?
2. The instruction that I read in most tutorials for installing cdt is to
proceed from the help menu : Help->Software Updates -> Find and Install.
But in the version 3.4.2 of eclipse, I don't find the Find and Install
option. Instead, I get a popup window when I click on Software updates.
This has two tabs : Installed and Available Software. In the Available
Software tab, I see an option of Add Sites. I entered in the following url
there : http://www.eclipse.org/cdt. But I then got a message that there
were no repositories here.
Please let me know how I should proceed. Can you please direct me to some
tutorials that deal with recent versions of eclipse?
Thank You,
Ravi

You can find C and C++ development tools in the "Ganymede Update Site"
checkbox in "Available Software", you don't need to add a site for CDT.

hope this helps
