How to set chart legend to column that is not used as category or value [message #264559]

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could point me to how I could set the legend of
a scatter chart to a column that I did not use as the category or the
value.

I'm using columnA vs. columnB in a dataset for my scatter chart, but I
want a third column columnC to be my legends. Is that a possibility?

I don't think that's easy to do. You could try changing the legend labels
through scripting, but the legend will by default show the categories or the
series names (depending if you color by categories or series).

Hi David,

Thanks for the reply, I was trying to do this through script, but do you
know how I could access the dataset object in beforeDrawLegendItem(), I
have no clue. Is there some kind of reference doc that could help me?

You can't access the dataset, but you can access the data of one chart
series
