I installed Flex Builder plugin a while ago, but the trial has since
expired, and I would like to remove the rather obtrusive "Flex Builder"
tab from my perspectives tab bar. However, for some reason, it just won't
go away.
To start with I am using a Mac with Leopard.
And I installed Eclipse Ganymede after the FB plugin was already
installed, which may be part of the problem (I'm not sure).
I have uninstalled the FB plugin through the uninstaller app.
Then I have gone through my workspace's .metadata/.plugins/... and cleared
out any com.adobe...flexbuilder directories.
Then I restarted eclipse, but oh, the perspective tab was still there. I
right clicked on it, and selected "Close" but nothing happens.
Where are these tabs defined? I've scoured the .metadata directory for
references, but can't find any. I assume they must be somewhere outside
the "eclipse" main directory since I completely replaced this when
installing Ganymede.
Please help, I just can't stand an unclean workbench. :(
Thanks in advance.

Glenn,
No doubt the information is lurking in the .metadata stuff in some
plugin that controls the UI itself, i.e., it won't be an an adobe
plugin. Probably you ought to have deleted the tab before you
uninstalled the stuff, but hindsight is 20/20. As a brute force
approach, you might just export all your projects into a zip file and
then import them into a fresh new workspace. You can export
preferences as well...

There is a bug for this:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=217974
However, you can work around this issue by selecting Window > Close All
Perspectives, and then re-opening the ones you would like to use again.
Mark.
