As promised, another post describing my problems on Windows.
I installed a fresh Windows XP. Did all the updates, to SP3 etc.=20
Installed quite a lot of additional software (OpenOffice, Firefox,=20
MingW, Putty, =E2=80=A6)
Downloaded Ganymede. Ran it, installed some extra packages (CDT, JDT,=20
WST, Subclipse, Texlipse, Dutch language pack). Everything fine.=20
Checked out some of my projects from svn, did some configuruing.
I then edited my user privileges, making myself non-privileged user. (I=20
suppose this is irrelevant, but you never know.)
Restarted WinXP once more to get install yet another update. After=20
restart, whenever I try to open Eclipse, I see the splash screen flash=20
by, and that=E2=80=99s it. Tried several different ways of starting it, =
no effect.
Installed it in a new location, downloaded another package, even=20
downloaded a 3.3.1 build, all the same: short flash of the splash=20
screen, then nothing.
I am out of ideas what I could do now. I am at the point of erasing the =
whole Windows installation and starting it all again, this time waiting=20
meticulously until all updates are finished before installing another=20
program or anything.
Any ideas?
Where does Eclipse store the information which workspace to use by=20
default? I have this slight impression the projects in the workspace=20
are the culprit.
Cheers, H.

Just wondering why you would make yourself a non-privileged user. Many
program require the user to have admin rights. I don't know if Eclipse
is such a program, but you might want to give that a try.

I think I have found it. There was something wrong with the Java.=20
After reinstalling Java and Eclipse, things seem to be working now.
I still have myself as non-privileged user, only an admin-account to do=20
program installation.

Let=E2=80=99s see if it suffices to put Eclipse in c:/Program Files (actu=

Thanks you very much. This was indeed the problem.
In the mean time, I also found out how to compile my JNI with MinGW, and
everything is working now. JAY!!
I really have to write all this stuff down somewhere.
Cheers, H.
