I've just installed eclipse3.0 (into a different folder from the original
eclipse2.1.3 I was running, so there is no file clashing).
I launched eclipse3.0, and intending to work on my existing project, I went
file->import... and selected "Existing project into workspace", then browsed to
where my workspace was based in version 2.1.3 (was was d:\eclipseWorkspace,
i.e. away fom the install folder).
After I did that, I could see the files in the resource view, but I have a few
problems:
1) the files aren't syntax coloured for java src: the text is all black
2) I can't find the java perspective! there is only CVS Reposity Exploring,
Debug, Resource (Default) and Team Synchronising
3) it's not compiling my files - if I edit some source and save, or try to
force a recompile, nothing happens.
obviously I'm missing something here... can anyone give me some pointers?

more info: in the properties dialog for my project that I imoported, on the
"Builders" item there is just one thing:
Missing builder (org.eclipse.jdt.core.javabuilder)
(and it's checked)
Now, does this mean this item is actually missing and something is wrong,
or does this item build missing things?
cheers

Did you download the whole Eclipse SDK, approx 85mb, or just the eclipse
platform at quarter that size? You need the big one.
