Some Notebooks use "weird" shortcuts for functions like screen
switching, undocking, screen zooming, ... Could it be that the
ctrl+space is already occupied by such a function?

You can check whether [ctrl]+[space] makes it through to Eclipse:
- select Window > Preferences
- search for Keys
- put the cursor into the field "Binding"
- hit [Ctrl]+[Space]

btw: I hate the notebook keyboards that have a [fn] key at the
lower left corner --> Being use to work with a normal keyboard,
I often hit [fn] instead of [Ctrl] when using my notebook undocked.

I have checked the eclipse ctrl-space configuration and it is ok, I also
have connected an standard keyboard to my laptop with no success.

I have been looking the workspace .log but there is no new line when I
press ctrl-space.

any other idea?

thank you

Hi,

I'm using the Java editor.

For example:

I write pub (to complete to public) and press ctrl-space having no
response, anything happens.

If I begin to write a class name and I press ctrl-space I have the same
result.

On the other hand, if I write the complete name of a class or an instance
followed by a dot, then eclipse shows the different methods and
properties, but I can't complete them by using ctrl-space.

thanks

Try to reset the Java > Editor > Content Assist > Advanced prefs.
