Not sure, you will probably find some information on www.eclipse.org and the
related development resources of the teams and projects. But I think we can
say there will be a 3.1 long before 4.0 and I also guess there will be a
3.0.x series of maintenance releases till 3.1 is available.

Yes, indeed I agree that this step to 3.0 will certainly have been the
last big step for the next time. At least I personally could not think
of any improvements so big that they would justify a new major version.
But who knows what IBM and co are planning... !?
