Hello everyone.
Being fairly new to Eclipse, I am having trouble upgrading from my actual
version which is 3.0 M6, to 3.0 RC2. In fact I had the same problem trying
to upgrade to 3.0 M9.
I work mainly in Java, using Ant to compile my projects. I have been
upgrading Eclipse with no problems up until now, by unziping the file to
c:\ and afterwards importing the preferences file which I had exported

If I follow the same procedure, point eclipse with -data to my workspace
and afterwards import the prefs file, I get no recognition of my java
files (there is no syntax coloring) and, right-clicking on my build.xml
Ant file, there is no Ant build option.
However, the Help files state clearly that this option should indeed exist
and the Ant plugin is there.
I also have no explanation on why the java files are not recognized.
The project properties which allowed me to set the source directories and
auxiliary libraries is also nowhere to be found.
The interaction with CVS works wonderfully though, even if the ssh2
protocol seems to have vanished.
Can anyone please help?

Are you sure that you downloaded the full SDK (86MB) and not just the
Platform Runtime Binary (24MB)

I do use Eclipse only for programming in Java, so I shouldn't need the SDK.

You would be incorrect.
As indicated on the download page, the Platform Runtime binary does not
include the Java programming support
It did not include it in M6 either.
