birt runtime 2.2.0 [message #248480] Tue, 17 July 2007 14:41 Go to next message

When I deploy the birt runtime 2.2.0 under the tomcat version 5.5.20 or
tomcat version 6.0.13 and attempt to run the WebSample viewer
test.rptdesign report I get a jvm crash in tomcat when trying to run the
PrintUtility class in the birt runtime. Does anyone know of any special
requirements to get this birt 2.2.0 running under tomcat 5 or tomcat 6.

Tom,

I am running 5.5 with Birt 2.2. I have no issue when hitting print
control in the nav bar. I am using Java 1.5. You should not have to
set anything special for this environment.

I am not actually trying to print anything the birt runtime just goes and
trys to run the PrintUtility class for no apparent reason when running the
WebViewer sample report and then crashes the jvm. I am also running java
1.5. The way I am deploying the runtime is by just placing the birt.war file
in the tomcat webapps directory and then trying to run it via a browser thru
tomcat and it crashes the jvm when trying to get some attributes for my
windows default printer. Do I need to do something extra besides just
placing the "birt.war" in the tomcat webapps directory?

Tom,

You should not have to do anything else.
Can you log a bugzilla entry for this?
Also try copying the WebViewerExample directory to the webapps directory.

You have the same setup as me. What OS are you running?

When I copy the WebViewerExample to my webapps it blows the jvm just like
the birt.war deployment does and I have also tried under tomcat 6 and same
result. I must be missing something very basic here.

Tom,

Does it blow up when you select the print icon or anytime you run a report?

Tom,

I am not certain what is happening here. Can you log a bugzilla entry.
