| Merged eclipse environs - PDT, Java, EPIC, etc? [message #243428] |

I followed a tutorial (thx, Mr Tanguay) to get a PHP dev environment running
on XP, via PDT, but would also like to play with some Perl, JavaScript,
Java, and the android SDK. The instructions I've seen for getting
up-to-speed on Java and/or android point one to eclipse downloads tailored
for Java, which would seem to possibly conflict w/ my pre-existing
PDT-installed eclipse instance.
My question... Should one avoid overlapping eclipse packages, or can a
single eclipse install be customized to simultaneously support several
different target languages? (And, if so, any pointers to instructs on how?)

The latter, of course. Go to Help-> Software Updates -> find updates
and make sure the Europa discovery site is checked. You=E2=80=99ll want =
to look
under Java Development. EPIC has its own update site, which you can add
in the Find updates dialog.

For more details about using the Update Manager, see this section of the
Eclipse Help: "Workbench User Guide" > Tasks > "Updating features with
the update manager"
