Compare editor difference between 3.2 and 3.3M5? [message #240905] Tue, 20 February 2007 13:40 Go to next message

I just upgraded to 3.3M5 from 3.2, and am getting some different behavior
that I am curious as to whether it is supposed to be like that or not.

Basically, I used to right click on a java class, select Compare With>Latest
from Head and the compare editor would open. Now it opens up the Team
Synchronize view and I have to navigate down the tree and double click the
source to get the compare editor to open up.

Is this the way it is supposed to work? If so, is there any way to restore
the direct open path? Thanks.

+1

I more liked old way. Now, I loose my "synchronize context", so have
to select projects to synchronize again. I have special plugin that
allows me configure several "synchronize context's" and synchronize them
fast, without reselecting projects each time, but still new compare
behavior looks more heavy than old one.

Konstantin,

I agree as well. This new approach seems disruptive. But all files do
this, not just .java files, so this is likely a better topic of
discussion on the platform newsgroup so that the CVS folks can comment.
I've added that newsgroup to the "to" list.

There's a Team option to disable this: Team > CVS > Synchronize/Compare

Thanks for the suggestion, but not in my build. I'm running 3.3.0, build id
I20070209-1006. When I go to Team>CVS>Synchronize/Compare, I see four check
boxes
o Consider file contents in comparisons
o Show revision comparisons in a dialog
o Automatically enable change set grouping in CVS synchronizations
o Allow models (e.g. Java) to participate in synchronizations

I do not see the option you are talking about.

Jay,

This has since been fixed. If you are adventurous (or should I say more
adventurous since you are using the milestones already), you could grab
the latest integration build. Otherwise, you'll have to wait until M6.
