I get this error message when I try to debug a php script:
The debug session could not be started.
Please make sure that the debugger is properly configured as a php.ini
directive.

I have no clue as to how to do this. Help!!

Hey,

the message pretty much says it. Open your php.ini file and change the
debug directive. Usually this file contains a lot of comments so that
should be easy.

Thanks for the reply,
I opened up the php.ini file and did a search for the word "debug" and the
only reference was this:

;report_zend_debug = 0

I uncommented the line and still got the same error message.
I then changed the value to 1 with no luck--same error message.
Any other suggestions?

This concerns two things:

1. How to setup php to enable debug outputs should described on a
million of web pages out there. Not speaking of the official php
installation + manual documents.

2. You probably would learn more if you´d manually scan through the
config file instead of doing a simple search for "debug". To have seen
that file at least once may be valuable. And you´d probably have already
found the settings you need to change...

I read over the php.ini file very carefully and still did not see anything
that would solve my problem. I did numerous searches relating to enabling
debug output and while there were some, none of which covered my problem.
I copied the error message to the Google search engine and there was only
one hit and it was in a foreign language.

I solved my problem with no thanks to anyone else. If any poor sole has
the same problem as I have described here are the steps that I took to
solve my problem.

1. Download and unzip/install Java Environment:
http://www.java.com/en/download/
2. Download and unzip this file:
pdt-all-in-one-incubation-S20070826_M3-win32.zip
3. Download and unzip this file:
org.zend.php.debug_feature-5.2.10.v20070826.zip
Once you unzip the file from step 3, it will have a folder called eclipse
and in this folder it will have two more folders, one called features and
one called plugins. The all-in-one file that you downloaded and unzipped
in step 2 also has a eclipse folder that has two folders (among others)
called features and plugins. Copy everything in the features folders from
step 3 into the features folder in step 2 (you will have to overwrite the
files). Then do the same for the plug-ins folder, i.e., copy everything
from the plugins folder in step 3 to the plugins folder in step 2.

My php IDE now works perfect with debugging out the a_s h_le!!!

Which problem is that? If you had responded to the previous post, so
this message was attached to the original thread, it would have been a
lot more useful to future readers. Right now, all I can tell is that it
had something to do with PHP, and wouldn't even know that if you hadn't
put that last line in the message.

Ok; I wouldn't have known to look for that. My newsreader (Gravity)
threads by subject.
