I seems that the filtering functionality is left out of the new CDT 4.0.
Does anyone know if its possible to filter out files like *.pdf, *.tex
etc?

Where is 'Name filter patterns'? I have made a standard C++ project in
CDT 4.0 and in the Project Explorer I cannot find anything called 'Name
filter patterns'.

If I make a Java project instead there is something called 'Name filter
patterns' in the Package explorer. But my question was in regard to a
C++ project in CDT 4.0 which does not seem to have this option.

view "C/C++ projects" menu arrow (on the right) -> Filters ...
then first option in the window

That is not possible in CDT 4.0. When I click the downward arrow (menu)
in Project Explorer I get:

Top Level Elements
Select Working Set...
// Deselect Working Set...
//Edit Active Working Set
Package Presentation
Customize View...
Link Editor

If I choose Customize View I can filter various pre-specified extensions
and objects, but I cannot make my own definitions.

Are you sure you are not using CDT 3.1.2 I seem to remember that it
worked like you describe in that version.

hm it seems that the default "Project Explorer" does not have the option
but if I choose to view "C/C++ Projects" instead I get the possibility
to edit filters...Wierd that it does not choose this kind of Explorer
when creating a new C++ project.
