Lost menu items from JDT Run and Search menu [message #208695] Tue, 05 July 2005 09:48 Go to next message

Hi,

My Eclipse 3.0.2 crashed this morning(Actually crashed a couple times when
I was using 3.0.1.

I clicked the Run->External Tools to run an ant script to build my
workspace, after nothing showing up for progress for more than one minute,
I clicked the same ant task once more. Not sure what exactly causes the
problem, after upgraded to Eclipse 3.0.2 and AJDT 1.2.0.20050161, clicking
to external tools does not response well as before.

After one more minute, I got duplicated ant task progress info in the
progress tab. Scared, I clicked the red square and stopped the (double
running ?) ant script. Thought better to restart Eclipse, so I closed it.
The eclipse took long time to disappear.

I restart the Eclipse, here comes the trouble. Cannot restore the GUI or
something error. From previous experience, I know something left behand
from previous close. So I killed the javaw.exe process from the
TaskManager (I am on Win2k).

After I restarted Eclipse again, I lost all menu items from the Run and
Search menu except External Tool, Search and File. This is the obvious
part, I do not kown if any other invisible parts are gone.

What can I do to get this fixed?

Sorry, already cleaned everything up from the workplace; and re-checked
out projects from the CVS repository.

Luckly, I did not have too many changes in my java projects, so I could
reapply the changes from the backup before the re-checkout.

The aspectJ and web projects went simple and quick to re-connect and
re-sync with CVS repository, even though the majority of my changes were
in the web project.

do not understand why it is such a pain to deal with the Java project.

Thanks a lot for the reply.
