Hello,

can someone tell me why ManhattanConnectionRouter is declared final, and
in that context why it has protected methods?

thanks,
christian

It is final because we do not wish to support it as API. It is not a very
useful router, and is intended as more of an example until someone
contributes a better orthogonal router with support for constraints.

hmm, I have found it to be quite useful one for my purposes - at least
it was the best alternative. Writing a router seems a rather tricky task
to me..

BTW, there is an orthogonal router in the GMF project, which I asked
about on their mailing list, and was told that plans existed to
contribute it back to GEF, along with other useful enhancemenets.
However, they said it would probably not make it in time for the 3.2
release, which is unfortunate
