Hi,

I'm new to eclipse (v2.1.3) & tomcat (v5.0.19), and have not been able to
find any articles on how to
debug a servlet.

I have found lots of promising leads but they all assume other knowledge.
Ideally, I would like to find a simple ... do this this and this and finally
this ... just to get me going.

Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
John

I am developping an application for the European Parliament.
We are using the Enterprise Workbench from http://www.myeclipseide.com
This is a set of plugins providing aids to develop servlet, applet, j2ee,..

I use it to develop an application with Tomcat 5 and it provide all the
facilities to debug within Eclipse.
It is very simple but you have to read the tutorials (not so hard...)
You can have a trial for 30 days and after that, the price is low (+/-
30$ for a year)

Try it.

Download and install the Sysdeo plugin for Tomcat integration:
http://www.sysdeo.com/eclipse/tomcatPlugin.html

For detailed instructions on how to use it see:

You might try jboss-ide as well.
http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=html&op=userdispl ay&id=developers/projects/jboss/jbosside

I had tried the Sysdeo plugin almost two years and didn't like it so much.
Looking at the jboss-ide plugin more recently, it had all I needed.
