Configuring ant or external tools error [message #197290] Wed, 18 February 2004 15:18 Go to next message

I'm new to eclipse and have just gotten the eclipse-SDK-2.1.2-linux-gtk
installed on Linux.

In going through the user's guide I was playing with the ant stuff.
When I went to to a "Run ant ..." on a build file I got a:

Exception occurred creating launch configuration tabs

Reason: No tab group defined for launch configuration type
org.eclipse.ant.AntLaunchConfigurationType

Followed by a dialog:

No tabs defined for launch configuration type Ant Build

Followd by a blank dialog:

Followed by the dialog I expected, to modify attributes and launch, but
there were no fields but the name.

I suspect something is missing or unconfigured.

Should I try to write a bug report. I didn't see anything when I
searched for those exception strings in the Bug list.

Mark,

I am not positive how you got into this state.

Some ideas:
Did you have any trouble installing Eclipse which resulted in a bad install?

Did you accidentally start eclipse twice on the same workspace? This can
lead to your workspace getting corrupted. If this is the case, and the
workspace is not hard to reproduce, I would start over with a new workspace.
I believe you might be seeing

I am sure I brought up eclipse twice when I first created that project.
I brought it up fresh in a different directory and created a new project
and ant worked fine.

Thanks a lot
