What makes a project 'applicable' to a server? [message #196798] Thu, 19 July 2007 16:56 Go to next message

I'm trying to add a Tomcat5.5 server to Eclipse 3.2.1 WTP. I have followed
the sequence on the help page but when I get to 'adding and removing
projects' my project does not appear in the selection list. The help for
the available projects list says "...only the projects that are applicable
to the type of server will appear." What makes a project applicable?

If I continue with the server addition and try to start Tomcat I do not
see the same console output that I see if I start Tomcat from a command
line. Requests to command line started Tomcat are served as expected.
Requests to the Tomcat started with the server->start return a 404 so
obviously something is very wrong.

I'm totally stuck and any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
beeky

For Tomcat servers, your project would need to be a Dynamic Web Project
to appear in the list of projects you can add to the server.

For more info about the Tomcat support in WTP, see:

http://www.eclipse.org/webtools/faq/TomcatServerFAQ.php

Thanks Larry. I did not know all this info was collected in faqs.

Larry,

I just wanted to thank you again. Yesterday I spend two frustrating
hours trying to add a new server. After reading the FAQ you pointed me to
my new server was up and running in about 15 minutes.

I think it would be very useful if a link or some sort or mention of
the FAQ was in either the help files or on the server config pages
themselves. Is there a n official way of making such a suggestion to the
Eclipse WTP project?

Once again, thanks,
-=bill

Yes. You can open an enhancement request at
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/. Set the severity to enhancement.
