Setting config info for a help plug-in [message #195072] Mon, 19 February 2007 17:16

I am designing a help plug-in and would like some of content in the html
pages to be customizable by an administrator deploying the application to
users. I have put this content in a .js file.

I would ideally like the admin to not have to build the plug-in (so they
don't have to know Eclipse or even download it.) I would like to be able
to just deliver the project/feature jar files and the site.xml file and
also have the config.js file be outside the jar file but included in the
html page by pointing to "plugins_root/myproject/config.js"

Is there a way to build a Eclipse update site and have it install some
file to a directory and not just copy over the jar file? Any suggestions?

By the way, the Eclipse project is designed to run as a plug-in to an IBM
product called Sametime.

thanks,

HOward
