When In Dark Theme Mode, Editing Background Color Is Not Allowed [message #1862325] |

For my editor, I prefer dark colors since they are easier on my eyes versus lighter backgrounds.
I started by changing the editor's theme to 'Dark Theme'. I did this by going to: Window > Preferences > General > Appearance, and then selecting/clicking the 'Enable theming' click box. In the 'Theme' drop down menu, I selected 'Dark'.
I then went to:
Window > Preferences > General > Appearance > Editors > Text Editors
When in this window, I scroll down to the 'Appearance color options:'. Once there, I clicked on the 'Background color' item. I then clicked the 'Color' palette. When the palette came up, I selected the color 'Black'. After doing so, I clicked the 'Apply' button while observing my editor in real time. The editor did update to the selected color black. I then proceeded to click on the 'Apply and Close' button to close and exit. Once doing so, the changes were undone and the editor background color reversed to its original color of dark gray. I tried this many times and every time, the same results were observed. It appears that Eclipse is overriding this change. Note that changing text font, boldness, color, italicization, etc., is not an issue. This issue is only observed when attempting to change the background color.
Is there a workaround?
Is Eclipse already aware of this bug?
