Installation on Mac halted by OS [message #1835695] Thu, 10 December 2020 10:44 Go to next message

I downloaded Papyrus today from the website. When I unzipped it and ran it, as per the instructions, the dreaded ....

"Papyrus" can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.

message box appeared.

So now I cannot use this product and have no way, other than this forum, to whine about why this should have been addressed prior to this version being released for the Mac platform (which it should have been - this "feature" by Apple isn't that new)

I have a MacBook P{rop 2018, running version 11.0.1 (Big Sur), 32 Gb of RAM, with 2.6 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7, o this isn't a problem with box.

please help

Thanks

I downloaded Papyrus today from the website.

What did you actually download? Be more specific.

For every software you download OSX complains. Normally Right mouse button >> open does the trick( at least it works with OSX 10).

Hi,

actually had the same problem today with papyrus
2021-12 release (6.0.0)

on my MacPro with MacOS 12.1

Problem seems to be the signing of the app as it exits with a

Termination Reason: CODESIGNING 1

I was able to solve the problem by resigning the app according to the following description [1]

1. Basically what you do is
open terminal
switch to /bin
sudo codesign --force --deep --sign - /Applications/Papyrus.app

after that starting the app worked for me.

2. I also override the policy beforehand by switching to System Preferences -> Security&Privacy under General allow opening Papyrus according to [2]. Not sure whether this is still required after doing 1.

I think the problem is not the software but the MacBook itself. Now there are a lot of virus programs that act specifically on mac OS damage, and perhaps it is with an item that you have to face now. Recently I had similar problems, but there was also a screen flickering, and many pop-up advertising messages appeared as if I was working on an old PC. I contacted macbook repairs near me, and they fixed it and told me to be careful when visiting suspicious websites.

Hi there,

I cannot seem to open/install Papyrus (6.4.0) on my MacOS Monterey.

If I click kntrl+open, it opens a window and then immediately shuts down again.

Can you help me with that?

Hi Esma,

you might have to update the application signature by executing

sudo codesign --force --deep --sign - /Applications/<appname>.app

within the terminal. This command will prompt for your password to get administrator privileges.

Depending on how you installed Papyrus the placeholder <appname> might be either Papyrus or Eclipse.

The Papyrus RCP provided is Intel only. If you have an Apple Silicon based Mac it will be run using Rosetta to emulate an Intel Mac. This caused some performance degradation.

An alternate way installing Papyrus is the first install the Eclipse Modeling RCP first and then add Papyrus via the Eclipse Market Place. The Eclipse Modeling RCP is available for both Intel and Apple Silicon based Macs.
