No tooltips shown in IDE [message #1856561] Thu, 15 December 2022 05:37 Go to next message
Eclipse UserFriend
I installed
Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Developers (includes Incubating components)
Version: 2022-12 (4.26.0)
Build id: 20221201-1913
OS: Linux, v.4.15.0-193-generic, x86_64 / gtk 3.22.30
Java vendor: Eclipse Adoptium
Java runtime version: 17.0.5+8
Java version: 17.0.5

OS is Ubuntu.

I imported and configured a few c++ existing projects.
C++ indexer is working properly and code is browsable.

Problem is: no tooltips at all (anywhere) on the whole Eclipse IDE are shown.
I can't even see the path of a file open while browsing code (Open Declaration F3) hoovering its respective code editor tab.

Any ideas, solutions?

TIA

Eclipse UserFriend
After having installed and experimented with a few other older Eclipse for C++ (back to version Oxygen 3 2018-03) to no avail, I switched back to the latest one cited in the my first post above.

Logging off and logging on a new Xfce 4.12 session sometimes, randomly, actually ***solves*** the issue.

While such issue, when it occurs, seems confined to the Eclipse IDE only (other applications appear to show tooltips properly) I strongly suspect it is somehow related to the Xfce Desktop Environment.
Any ideas how to proceed from here to detect where the actual problem arises?

TIA
