Diagram export [message #1842667] Mon, 28 June 2021 03:42 Go to next message

Hello,

I'd like to export Papyrus diagrams (.di files) into an extension that can be used by other MBSE tools (Cameo Systems Modeler for instance). How can I do this?

Best regards,

Salma.

Hi

UMLDI is the standard for diagram interchange. I am not aware of any tool that supports it.

Hello,

Thank you for your response. However, this standard is applicable for UML diagrams and not SysML, is there another solution for that?

Best regards,

Salma.

Hi

If UML can't, SysML definitely can't, ... but you might find a SysML appendix for SysMLDI to prove me wrong.

Bottom line, most vendors have negative interest in interchange. What little there is for UML is only due to overriding DoD pressure.

SysML 1.x is merely an UML 2.x profile.

Hi,

just to clarify that there are two different tasks:
- Export of a single diagram into image formats such as SVG or PNG. This is supported via the context menu of a diagram (File->save-as image)
- Export of a model along with the diagrams. As already pointed out, there is no common format supported by UML tools, you can only exchange the semantic model (btw. the graphical information is in the .notation file, the .di is merely an umbrella)

I have been working for a couple of years now developing open source tools to exchange models and diagrams between UML & SysML tools using the OMG XMI and DI standards.
The work has concentrated on what the ISO STEP community use of SysML, but has tried to cover basic UML if it was a simple extension.
At present we can exchange Profile diagrams, SysML BDD, Paremetric diagrams between the following tools:
- MagicDraw 18.4
- Eclipse Papyrus (2020-06)
- UModel 2019
Exchange supports models in/out. MagidDraw exchange supports diagram in/out (mostly), the others just support diagrams in (I am working on diagrams out of Papyrus at present)

You can find more information at: https://sourceforge.net/projects/canonical-xmi-tools/

Many, many thanks. I will take a look at it.

There is this project I never tested https://git.eclipse.org/r/plugins/gitiles/papyrus/org.eclipse.papyrus-interoperability/+/1f6a1baf5f876076486b84d520ccea9b4d671e82/diagram-definition/plugins/org.eclipse.papyrus.notation2umldi/
